Medicine Man 05:26
Medicine man Oh, medicine man He’s a wonder, man But the medicine man Oh, the medicine man He’s the only man He’s the flowers in the ground He’s the one who turns around He’s the sky and he’s the sea He’s the one who makes me believe Medicine man Oh, medicine man He’s a wonder, man But the medicine can Oh, the medicine can Make you wonder, man He’s the winter, he’s the fall He’s the prizes that you’ve won He’s the grades you got in school He’s the friends you thought were cool Oh, medicine man Oh, medicine man He’s the only man Oh, medicine man Oh, medicine man Never lonely, man He’s the one who took his time He’s the questions in my mind He’s the answers that I need He’s the ground beneath my feet Oh, medicine man Oh, medicine man He’s the only man But the medicine can Make you wonder, man If you should be here, man He’s the summer, he’s the spring He’s the child on a swing He’s the grass and he’s the fields He’s the one who makes it real Oh, medicine man Oh, medicine man He’s the only man Oh, medicine man Oh, medicine man He’s your best friend, man He’s the one who plants the trees He’s the colors that I can see He’s the guest and he’s the host He’s a yes and he’s a no Oh, medicine man Oh, medicine man He’s the only man

Poor You 03:51
I saw your dad today Does he still to this day Keep his love An arm’s length away From you To jump Through hoops To see To see him through Oh, poor you I saw your mom today Does she still to this day Turn the other cheek Dream of sweet relief Through you To jump Through hoops To see To see her through Oh, poor you I saw your twin today Does she still to this day Walk that line Never tracing time With you To jump Through hoops To see To see her through Oh, poor you

This summer rain don’t feel the same Now I’m older The weather’s changed, I feel the same Though I’m older Yesterday is far away If you chase it Just twenty-five I’ve made up my mind Well, what d’you know Well, what d’you know? Well, what d’you know How far will you go How far will you go How far will you go Running short of days and thoughts Growing older Warped by rain, still look the same Though I’m older Yesterday is far away If you chase it Just twenty-five I’ve made up my mind Well, what d’you know Well, what d’you know? Well, what d’you know How far will you go How far will you go? How far will you go.

I hope you feel you’ve got it made If not I guess it’s not too late There’s always something new to learn There’ll always be a place to turn Oh yeah So fraternize, don’t neutralize You’ll need the things you left behind Though nowadays I guess it’s strange If you react before the change Oh yeah There’s no excuse, no telling whys A life is lived until it dies You’re breathing out, now live it up Find your way down from the top Oh yeah So walk around, don’t hang around It gets so lonesome in a crowd At first it’s hard to understand That hell is other people, man Oh yeah Morning is a sacred time A chance to leave the past behind The voices that are dear to you Will sound as like they were brand new Oh yeah But I guess that I’m a heathen man It’s hard for me to understand The ins and outs of the divine I guess I never took the time Oh no I believe in what I see and hear The sun and moon both shine so clear There’s an answer in the air somewhere But nobody seem to bid my care Oh no Certainty won’t set you free But it might just help you be at ease Grass is green and sky is blue I guess the rest is up to you Oh yeah

about

➜ About

Big Sky Country's debut album “The Handshake” was recorded in February 2012, but wasn't released until March 2014. A long and tough proces that showed in the final product; a record which should have been live, unpolished and spontaneous, ended up being a strange mixture of live recordings and grandiose arrangements. As a direct result of this, Medicine Man EP has an increased focus on efficiency, better sound and a clear common thread.

This focus has resulted in a new, better and more comprehensive sound than what the band has released before. The listener can also expect a completely new instrumentation consisting of Indian percussion, non-traditional string instruments, increased use of keyboard instruments and different types of woodwinds.

About the EP's title and title track, singer-songwriter Philip Skovgaard explains:

"The title song "Medicine Man" was written based on a short stay in the hospital I had a few years ago. I had blood poisoning, was admitted to the emergency room and received an intense penicillin drip. However, my body would not accept the penicillin and it all seemed quite chaotic. Later I found out that I had glandular fever at the same time, and that was why I simply could not take the medicine. A very accidental accident which gave me food for thought as to whether I should really be here or not".
